June 7th I had the oppurtunity to ride a powered parachute (PPC) with an instructor at Arnold Airfield near Lexington. The PPC had an electric start Rotax 592 65HP engine with a 400sq-ft rectangular chute. The high heat, 90F, and 100% humidity along with gusty conditions was not conducive to a long flight with my weight. Our climb rate was only 50'/min, and I think the instructor was a little nervous about the conditions. I guess a 95HP version with a larger chute would be a requirement for me.
